Acclaimed Ghanaian musician Kuami Eugene sustained injuries in a vehicle collision late Sunday evening. The accident occurred near the intersection of CP and DSTV office roads heading toward the Dzowulu traffic light in Accra, Ghana. Details regarding the artist’s destination were unclear.
According to the editor of the Modern Ghana news portal, Emmanuel Ajarfor Abugri, who witnessed the accident, he was directly behind the musician’s car when the incident occurred around 11:30 PM. Upon approaching to offer assistance, Abugri realized it was the well-known musician inside the vehicle along with one other male passenger.
As the first responder on the scene, Ajarfor rushed to extract both occupants from the completely ruined vehicle before others also arrived to help. He then arranged transportation to convey them to the UGMC hospital for medical attention. Based on his account, the musician’s vehicle collided with the truck due to limited visibility from poor roadway lighting and the lack of tail lights.
According to his statement, while the passenger did not appear to have any physical injuries, he reported neck and back pain to nurses at the hospital. Police from the Achimota Police Station are in charge of all investigations. According to reports, the artist seemed to have a broken arm with blood on his hands and also sustained lacerations to his lip, leg, and hip area.
In Ajarfor’s words, “He’s fine. He had a broken arm with blood all over his hands. The car is completely damaged and all the airbags exploded. He could have died.” The vehicle involved was a Range Rover with the registration number GC- 220-21.
